Bidder FAQs
How Do I Register To Bid?
You can register to bid by visiting the New User Registration page to make an account. Once you’ve completed the registration, check your email for a link to “Verify” your account, if you don’t see the email, make sure to check your Spam or Junk folder. Once your account is verified, simply add a payment method on the My Account page to enable bidding privileges.
How Does Bidding Work?
Simply enter the amount you would like to bid, if your bid is higher than all other bids, you will become the highest bidder. If no other bids exceed your bids, you will be responsible for paying the seller the amount of your highest bid.
What Happens If The Reserve Is Not Met?
If the reserve is not met, we will encourage the seller to make a deal with the highest bidder. If the highest bidder and seller cannot come to an agreement, the seller will be given to option to re-list their aircraft at a later date.
Can I Receive Updates?
Yes! By clicking the “Add to Favorites” button on any auction listing, you will receive updates on the auction via Text/Email.
What If I Win The Auction?
If you win the auction, a 5% buyer’s fee is paid to Buyplane via the buyer’s card on file at the time of auction close. The remainder of the transaction for the highest bid amount is between the bidder and the seller, once the auction closes the buyer and seller will be given each other’s contact information via email to complete payment. We recommend the buyer obtain a photocopy of the bill of sale prior to sending payment, and we recommend a wire transfer as the safest method of payment.
What Is The Buyer's Fee?
If you win an auction, BuyPlane collects a 5% buyer’s fee on top of the winning bid amount with a minimum fee of $250, and a maximum fee of $5,000. (i.e. A winning bid of $50,000 would pay an additional 5% buyer’s fee for a total amount of $52,500).
If you do not win the auction, your 5% buyer’s fee will be returned to you immediately.
Will There Be A Hold On My Card?
When bidding, Buyplane places a temporary hold on your card for 5% of your initial bid amount with a minimum hold of $250 and a maximum of $5000. If you win the auction, that hold will be converted to a charge. If you do not win, the hold will be released immediately at the time of auction end. It can sometimes take a few days for your bank to release the funds back to your account.
Waht Types Of Payments Are Accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards.
Why Is The Timer Resetting?
During the last 2 minutes of each Buyplane auction, the timer will reset back to 2:00 for every new bid placed. This will continue to happen until no more new bids are placed and the auction ends, this feature gives everyone a chance to bid fairly regardless of internet speed, or computer skills. We call this feature “Sniping Protection” as it halts the common practice of putting a bid in at the very last second to steal the highest bid from someone else.
Can I Cancel A Bid?
Bids cannot be canceled, so please be very careful when bidding.

What is A Reserve, And How Does It Work?
A reserve is a minimum amount that the aircraft will sell for. We will work with the seller to set a reasonable reserve for your aircraft, if a reasonable reserve amount cannot be agreed upon, we will not list the aircraft. We do not show reserve prices on the auction listing or announce when the reserve has been met as this leads to unusual bidding activity.
Can I Change My Reserve?
You may lower your reserve price at any time prior to the auction end time. We do not allow sellers to raise the reserve price once the listing has gone live.
Who Writes The Listing Description?
Once your auction listing is approved, one of our highly trained Auction Specialists will be assigned to drafting your listing description based on the information you’ve provided. Your Auction Specialist will be available to assist you with any questions you may have throughout the duration of your auction listing.
Can I Cancel My Auction
Once an auction goes live and receives its first bid, we are unable to cancel the auction.
Can I Re-List My Aircraft?
If your aircraft doesn’t sell, we are happy to re-list it for you, however, keep in mind that auctions typically receive the most bids during the first auction period.
